Godly Play: Ms. Sue will tell the children the story of Jesus in the Wilderness. I wonder what it was like being alone in the desert for such a long time…I wonder how Jesus felt when the evil one was near him…Our Bible reading will be Matthew 4:1-11.

Great Cookie Caper of 2012: February 20, 1:30pm – 4:30pm in the parish hall. Kids of all ages will be baking cookies to be frozen for use at our breakfast hours and as dessert for our Lenten supper series. St. David’s will provide the ingredients, you bring the fun. Adult Bible Study resumes in 2012 with our Wisdom studies. We are studying JOB in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars for Wednesdays in January at 7:00pm. Bring a friend. Find Your Palms from Last Year! We will have our annual Burning of the Palms at our Shrove Tuesday pancake supper on February 21, creating ashes to use at our Ash Wednesday services the following day. Don’t forget to bring your palms from last Palm Sunday in; with three services on Ash Wednesday (plus one for preschool chapel) we need to make lots of ashes!
St. David’s Day Celtic Eucharist: So, who was Saint David anyway? Find out on St. David’s Day, March 1, when we will celebrate St. David with a Celtic Eucharist at 7:00PM, complete with candles and Celtic music.
Ultreya: After an extended hiatus, South Richmond Ultreya will be held at St Michael’s, Bon Air, Monday, January 30, starting with an optional potluck supper at 6:30pm (with the Ultreya itself starting at 7:00pm) and ending by 8:30pm. Yokefellows, a Christian music ministry involving Tucker Wright and Mark Gilbert, is performing from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, February 3, at the Centenary United Methodist Church downtown in East Grace Street, as part of the monthly Richmond First Fridays Artwalk event. Outreach: The jars for the Pennies from Heaven fundraiser are out in the narthex. Please support our Pre-School and drop a few coins (or a few dollars) in. We are having a little friendly competition between men and women to see who can raise the most for this very important ministry.
